## Computer Literacy – Level 1 **10-Week Hands-On Technology Course** Give students the essential computer skills they need for school, everyday life, and their future careers! Computer Literacy – Level 1 is the first section of our three-part Computer Literacy program and introduces students to the fundamental skills needed to confidently use computers and digital technology. Throughout this 10-week course, students will learn through hands-on activities and guided projects rather than simply watching demonstrations. They’ll explore how computers work, learn how to navigate an operating system, organize files and folders, use a keyboard and mouse efficiently, and become more comfortable working independently on a computer. Students will also be introduced to essential productivity skills, including creating and editing documents, working with basic spreadsheets, navigating the internet, downloading and uploading files, using email, and understanding common file types. Special attention will be given to internet safety, passwords, privacy, responsible online behavior, and recognizing potentially unsafe websites, messages, and downloads. The goal isn't just to teach students where to click—it's to help them understand how to use technology to **create, communicate, research, organize, and solve problems**. This course represents approximately the **first third of our complete Computer Literacy curriculum** and establishes the foundation students will need before moving into Levels 2 and 3. **Students will learn:** * Computer hardware and basic terminology * Windows and operating system navigation * Keyboard and mouse skills * File and folder organization * Creating and saving documents * Introduction to spreadsheets * Internet browsing and online research * Email and digital communication * Uploading and downloading files * Passwords, privacy, and cybersecurity basics * Responsible and safe technology use * Digital problem-solving skills **No previous computer experience is required.** This course is designed to build confidence and give students practical technology skills they can immediately use at school, at home, and beyond.
